A speaker and headphone calibration software delivering consistently accurate studio reference sound.

Accurate speaker measurements and calibration for audio systems from stereo up to 9.1.6 channels. Perfect translation with accurate frequency response and sharp soundstage, and compatible with most popular hardware setups and all major DAWs (supported plugin formats include VST2, VST3 AAX, and AU). Through a user friendly measurement process, an intuitive guide helps you to calibrate studio speakers with an individually calibrated measurement microphone with ease.

SoundID Reference for Multichannel delivers accurate adjustments for channel delays to ensure perfect time alignment at the listening spot, with sub-millisecond precision. The time delay calculations are based on phase response measurements, which are taken during the speaker measurement process. Thus this feature is sometimes called phase alignment. Time alignment will be applied by default when loading your speaker calibration profile in the DAW plugin. It is located in the Listening Spot section, and can be disabled manually. This feature only aligns individual channel delays of the speakers based on phase response measurement to ensure the simultaneous arrival of sound signals from all speakers to your ears. Depending on your system, this often brings significant improvements in terms of sharper sound stage and overall clarity. The Zero Latency feature in SoundID Reference refers to the core DSP engine running in the zero-latency DSP filter mode. With time alignment enabled for soundstage correction, those delays will be added on top of the full-cycle latency (reported in the Latency overview at the bottom-left corner of the plugin). Time alignment added delay figures will depend on each individual setup, the exact values will be shown in the Listening Spot section.

Most stereo studio engineers agree that “flat” sound is the best there is for a music creator to create great mixes that translate well. The multichannel world seems to be slightly more complicated. But don’t worry, SoundID Reference will take care of that. You now have more target curves to choose from, depending on your situation. First, the SoundID SR (Studio Reference) is still available in the software for those of you who trust and rely on flat sound in your productions. Second, the Dolby Atmos Music curve. If you’re into producing Atmos music, you might know that Dolby has defined the target curve that they expect you to use to tune your Atmos studio in their guideline document. It is also the target that is used by the Dolby team when they provide the service of tuning your Atmos room. So if you want to make the sound for Dolby Atmos standard, this is the curve you’ll want to consider. Third, based on quite a few requests from the user community, Sonarworks have reintroduced the Tilt target curve. For now, it can be found under “Translation Check > Other”, however, if you find this target useful, Sonarworks will bring it more prominently up in the user interface. Last but not least, if the above mentioned target curves are not enough, you are always welcome to design your own by using the flexibility of the Custom target curve function.

Using an individually calibrated SoundID Reference measurement mic that offers multi-angle microphone calibration curves for accurate measurements. Run the SoundID Reference plugin in your preferred DAW or export the calibration profile to supported hardware units. Begin and complete a project from A-Z and compare it to your reference tracks to experience better translation across devices. Create a custom target curve and limit the calibration range for your whole setup or separate channel groups.
